Julia Fiona Roberts' parents are Walter Grady Roberts and Betty Lou Bredemus. Julia Fiona Roberts is the fourth generation of Roberts living in Atlanta. Her father's passion for theatre was inherited by her. in theatre from an early age. When he was a student at Emory University he appeared in numerous productions in and outside of campus. After joining the airforce and appearing in an airforce production in Biloxi with Betty Lou Bredemus. They married in 1955. Their child, Eric Anthony, was born in 1956. Walter and his wife were discharged from the Air Force in, when they enrolled Walter at Tulane University. Walter started working at Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio in 1960. Walter along with Betty Lou produced a Saturday matinee local TV show that was aimed at children, called Bum Bum and His Buddies in 1964, a project they self-financed. The Actors and Writers Workshop was established in 1964 and lasted for 6 years. Lelisa Billingsley often referred to as Lisa was born in 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
